AeX / SFeX Integrated Search
The MCCS Marine & Family Services Divion Lifelong Learning Team, is pleased to announce a new application that joins together two portals, the Academic Explorer (AeX) and the Scholarship & Financial Aid Explorer (SFeX) with an integrated search engine.
The AeX/SFeX Integrated Search application allows users to search
for both degree/certificate programs and scholarship opportunities, side-by-side,
at the same time, with one set of search criteria. This feature will allow
potential students to search for a degree or certificate program that matches
the skills and interest of the student and simultaneously display any scholarship
opportunities that might be available to help them complete that program
offering, in addition to their TA and MGIB benefits.
The Integrated Search will allow users to filter the results to the current library of over 7,000 certificate and degree programs offered by almost 125 institutions (in AeX) and simultaneously apply the same search criteria to more than 125 available scholarship opportunities, providing the filtered search results in the same format provided in AeX.
The common search criteria that are available to users are:
- Degree Level – Any, Certificate, Associates, Bachelors, Masters
- Degree / Discipline – a filter on the specific certificate or degree area of study
- Location – searching by region, state or proximity to zip code - this filter only applies to AeX
- Keywords – all text in both libraries is indexed so everything is searchable
- Scholarship Type – SFeX specific: provides an eligibility search for the scholarship applicant status, which could be: Active Duty; Deployed; Disabled; Family Member; Injured; Minority; Special Needs Dependents; Spouse; Veteran; or Not Specified
- Branch of Service – SFeX specific: provides an eligibility search for the scholarship applicant based on branch of service, which could be: Army; Navy, Air Force; Marine Corps; Coast Guard; National Guard; or Reserves
The advantage of these sites for searches is that there are no required
sign up or personal information to obtain the search assistance. Bonus is
that you also do not have pop ups advertising schools or other programs.
This new tool is available from the homepages of both websites:
