What We Do
The Career Resource Center (CRC) is located in Building 129. The CRC provides a comfortable, relaxing environment where authorized patrons may read up on current career skills, career opportunities i.e. books, magazines or the World Wide Web via the computers in the CRC. All services provided in the CRC are free to military service members, retirees, veterans, DOD civilian employees, and their family members in their career planning and job search.
- The two primary programs are Transition Assistance Management Program and Family Member Employment Assistance.
- We provide a variety of resources such as computer programs, internet access, reference library and job listings.
- We have friendly and helpful staff to assist you and answer questions.
- Our services are provided for free.
What We Offer
Transition Assistance Mangament Program (TAMP)
All Marines who separate or retire from active duty are required to attend both the one day Pre-Separation workshop and the three day TAP employment workshop. Time and dates for the workshops can be acquired through either the command Unit Transition Coordinator (UTC) at 577-6375 or the TAMP Manager at 577-6533. One on one career transition coaching is available at the TAMP office; Career Decision Making, Job Search Strategies, Resume and cover Letter preparation, Job fair Strategies, Federal employment application process, Job Search techniques, interview techniques, Job Offer and Salary negotiations. Employment Assistance
We provide guidance on the Federal Employment Application process, how to handle difficult and common interview questions, and successful techniques for developing a resume.
Computerized Skills & Employment Assessment
These programs help job seekers make career and educational choices based on interests, skills and personality types.
Family Member Employment Assistance (FMEAP)
Family member career employment workshops are conducted each month. Workshops provide assistance in exploring career options and preparing family members in pursuing employment opportunities. Workshops are advertised in the Barstow Log. One on one career coaching is available by appointment by calling (760) 577-6533.
Facilities and Equipment
Automated Services consists of computer work stations for clients to use in preparing resumes, cover letters and federal applications. Internet capability is available on all computers. Fax service, copier and telephone for employer contact is also available.
Resource Library consists of publications, video and books on the job market and how to better prepare yourself.
Employment Listings for local and nationwide are also available. These listings are updated weekly.
DOD JobSearch Website from the Office of the Secretary of Defense is dedicated to employment assistance for transitioning military members and spouses of PCSing members.
