Online Library Resources through Military OneSource

Education, relocation, parenting, stress – Military OneSource is here to help you with just about any need. This free service is provided by the Department of Defense for active-duty, Guard, and Reserve service members and their families.

Among the services offered by Military OneSource are over twenty library online resources. These resources address a wide variety of subjects and cater to the needs of military, military spouses, and military families. Some examples include:

Career Transitions – A complete, self-paced application that walks job-seekers through the entire process from assessing strengths and interests, to exploring new opportunities, to ultimately improving the chances of landing a job.

DoD/MWR Library Education and Career Resource – Members of the military, spouses, and children can take advantage of these and many other resources from the DoD MWR Libraries: CLEP,* DSST, ASVAB, test prep and more, college planning resources, and portable civilian career resources.

Virtual Reference Library – Provides access to more than 1,500 (and growing) electronic reference titles (eBooks) in virtually any subject, including health, science, art, history, biography and many more.

Hobbies and Crafts – From kids’ crafts to seasonal crafts, amateur astronomy to yard sales, find what you are looking for in the database of magazines, reference books and videos. For instance there are 503 links to magazine articles, books and videos about Origami.

Junior Edition - K12 – Designed for junior high and middle school students, InfoTrac Junior Edition features full-text titles that support school curriculum, including major magazines, newspapers and reference works. Students will gain 24/7 access to the detailed information they need for homework assignments and general reference questions.

Kids InfoBits – Includes more than 100 full-text, age-appropriate magazines, more than 6,400 searchable, indexed images, Merriam-Webster®’s Elementary Dictionary and 1,200 maps, flags & seals and over 1,700 colorful charts and graphs. Broad subject categories include animals, arts & entertainment, geography, health, history & social studies, inventions & technology, plants, people, science & math, sports, stories & literature and transportation.
